Bush Trimming

Lawn Maintenance

MG Landscape

Every shrub has its own growth habit and its own best time to prune. We shape for health and structure, removing dead and crossing branches, keeping plants clear of the house and walks, and holding each one to a size that suits its space. Formal hedges receive clean, level lines, while informal plantings keep their natural form. All trimmings are cleared and hauled away.

Most properties are best served by two visits a year. Shrubs that have gone untended may need a corrective first trim before settling into that rhythm.

On site: Typically 1 to 3 hours. Long hedge rows or heavily overgrown beds can take half a day.

What The Visit Includes

  • Shaping and height control suited to each plant
  • Dead, damaged, and crossing branches removed
  • Branches cut back from siding, windows, walks, and rooflines
  • Dense shrubs thinned for light and airflow
  • Formal hedges sheared to clean, even lines
  • Trimmings hauled away, with beds and walks blown clean
  • Overgrown plants noted for gradual reduction over more than one visit

How We Handle The Details

  • Cuts are made just outside the branch collar, so the plant can seal the wound properly.
  • Dense hedges are checked for active nests before spring trimming.
  • Trimmers are kept clear of tender bark and of irrigation heads in the bed.
  • Flowering shrubs are pruned on their own schedule, so their bloom is not lost for the sake of neatness.

Questions Before You Book

When is the right time to trim?

It depends on the plant. Spring-flowering shrubs are pruned right after they bloom, so next year's buds are not lost. Most evergreens and formal hedges do best in late spring or early fall. We avoid heavy shearing during extreme summer heat.

My shrubs are badly overgrown. Can they be saved?

Often, yes, though rarely in a single visit. Removing too much at once stresses the plant and can leave bare wood that may not fill back in. We reduce overgrown shrubs gradually over a season or two, and we'll tell you plainly if a plant is beyond recovery.

Will you haul away the debris?

Yes. Cleanup and haul-away are part of every visit, and beds, walks, and drives are cleared before we leave.

Do you shear everything into boxes?

Only where that look is wanted. Formal hedges receive clean faces and level tops. Most foundation shrubs look better and stay healthier when they keep their natural shape.
