Landscaping Design Services in Lombard
About Lombard
Lombard is the Lilac Village, and few suburbs have a horticultural heritage so woven into their identity. Lilacia Park, its celebrated garden, began with the lilac collection of Colonel William R. Plum and his wife, Helen, who gathered varieties from as far away as France and left their garden to the people of Lombard.
In 1929 the park was redesigned by the landscape architect Jens Jensen, who replaced straight planting rows with curving paths, limestone benches, and rockwork. Today it holds more than two hundred varieties of lilac, and each May the Lilac Time festival, a tradition since 1930, fills it with color and fragrance. Nearby, the Illinois Prairie Path and the Great Western Trail carry walkers and cyclists through the village.
With a heritage like this, plantings in Lombard are never an afterthought. A compact lot near downtown and a deeper garden at the village's edge call for different care, and each receives the attention it deserves.

How We Care For Homes In Lombard
Questions From Lombard
Do you prune lilacs and ornamental shrubs, or only hedges?
Both, and they call for different cuts. Lilacs and most flowering shrubs need the right wood removed at the right time, just after they bloom, while a hedge needs a shape. We treat each one accordingly.
Can you install plants and then maintain them?
Yes. Installation includes bed preparation and planting, and the maintenance plan keeps the mower off the new edge and the bed mulched.
Do you work at Lilacia Park?
No. We care for residential properties in Lombard. The park is simply one of the reasons the village takes such pride in its plantings.
